Obituary
Obituary of Lindsey Frances PFEIFER
1956 – 2016
(“Queen of Kensington”)
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing on Sunday, April 3, 2016 of Lindsey Pfeifer, at the much too young age of 59.
Lindsey was born in the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, England on July 20, 1956 and immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1962 residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She graduated from Kelvin HS and later studied in the Faculty of Arts at the U of M. Lindsey and husband Kim spent several years in Regina and Toronto before finally making their home in Calgary in 1990. Lindsey had a long painful career as a manager in the banking industry and retired while in Calgary. She was instrumental in caring for her mother Vera who suffered from ALS late in life. Lindsey appreciated good art, enjoyed travelling especially in Europe, gourmet cooking & entertaining, shopping at Harrods in London & Place Vendome in Paris, and French Burgundy white wine and of course Champagne. Lindsey was especially proud of finding her brother Terry and the time she had to get to know him over the last ten years. Lindsey made friends with everyone she touched, she lit up the room with her laughter and generally brightened other people’s days. Heaven will be a lot happier by getting her and the earth will be a lot sadder without her.
Lindsey will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are Kim Pfeifer, husband of 39 years, brother Terry Marsh & family of Hampshire, South England, her Aunt, Eira Woodward & family of Oxford, England, brother in law Rod Pfeifer of Lethbridge, Antonietta Terrigno & family of Calgary and of course Max (her Wheaten Terrier). Other dear friends from the Kensington area too numerous to mention will sadly miss her.
In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and there will not be a formal funeral service. Instead and to facilitate her brother Terry’s arrival from the UK a farewell reception for family and friends will be held from 11:30AM to 3:00PM, on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Osteria de Medici restaurant at the corner of 10th Street NW and Kensington Road. Everyone she knew and touched is welcome. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
Finally, the family wish to specifically thank the doctors, nurses, respiratory technologists and other superb staff from the Rocky View General Hospital ICU for their valiant efforts, compassion and professionalism during her stay.
In living memory of Lindsey Pfeifer, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
