Obituary of Rodney David BISHOP
1961 – 2016
Rodney David Bishop (aka Rod, Fred, Freddy, Fearless or Fearless Freddy) of Balzac, AB passed away the morning of March 29, 2016 in the Didsbury Hospital at 54 years of age.
A kind and gentle soul he was also blessed with the most wonderful sense of humor. A man of few words he loved cows, garden potatoes, the prairies, sports, a good party, Jamaican rum, children of all ages and was very proud of his trucking business of which he owned and operated for a number of years. He was the recipient of two citizenship awards along with two athletic awards during his high school years and his athleticism was the envy of his teammates and a joy to spectate. Patience was his strong suit whether it was spending endless hours coaching and serving the volleyball to his daughter, repeating to his son the very same solicited advice he had given numerous times before or waiting on his wife to finish getting ready, he was forever patient. This wonderful father and husband was his daughter’s first love, his son’s favorite hero and his wife’s best friend.
Rod is survived by his wife of 26 years, Inez (nee Tweten); son Garth (Jessie); grandsons Lincoln and Tyson; daughter Khysa; parents Gordon and Shirley Bishop (nee Jones); siblings Susan (Barry) Wentz, Cindy (Tom) Beierle, and Cori Carberry. Rod is also survived by a very special sister-in-law Laurel (Ralph) Pole; eleven nephews and six nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased in death by his sister Dianne and brother Stuart.
