Dear Pat, my deepest condolences. I did not know Don for very long. I knew him through the men’s cancer support group. I will always appreciate the help he provided to me and the rest of the group. He was very open and willingly shared his experience with all of us. The last time I saw him was at the support group just 2 weeks ago. He was his positive smiling optimistic self. I had the opportunity to shake his hand and to say thank you to him for how his contribution has helped me. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Uncle Donald, I will always remember you as the cheerful, intelligent and loving man. Most of my memories are from childhood with you and Aunty Pat.. but for the most part I think my favorite moment was not the most pleasent of occassions yet the most personal time we spent together. After Grandma Hughes’ funeral, we sat at my mom’s house on the couch looking through old memories of Grandma and Grandpa, as you told me wonderful stories of their life and your childhood with my mom. This to me was special and it made me feel better to know that you were happy to tell me all about it. I am sad that we didnt get to spend more time together as I grew up and had my own child but none the less I knew you have always been with me in my heart. Thank you for being you and making my memories that much more rich. I will love you forever. xo

We will always remember our visit in October, 2013 and how well we were treated on our visit and how could we forget those huge steaks that Don barbecued. You will always be in our thoughts.

Don was a very unique compassionate person. I will remember him as a dear friend, professional college and trusted confidante. Qualities that are rare in today’s fast paced and competitive world. I feel a true void in the loss of Don and will reflect back fondly to the lunch hour walks and the many good times I shared with my friend.
Manon and myself would like to express our sympathy to Pat, Bess and Sam. May love and a lifetime of memories help you through this difficult time.

We know how much courage, grit and determination it took for Don and all of you to face the many challenges during the last two years. Best wishes from Don (FOB), Rita, Alanna & Connor. XOXO
