Obituary of Mary KLAVER

March 14, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta
Mary (Negenman) Klaver passed away peacefully on March 14, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on July 28, 1932, the eldest of 7 children. Mary met the love of her life, Kees, in Avenhoorn. They immigrated to Canada in 1953 and married that year. After raising her six children, she became an accountant for several firms and then the family business. She had a zest for life, a keen sense of adventure, and thoroughly enjoyed her many years of volunteering as a Campground Host at William Watson campground.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kees Klaver; 4 sons, Charlie (Susan) of Edmonton, Ron of Calgary, Joe (Pam) of Calgary, Brian (Brenda) of DeWinton; one daughter, Yvonne (Jamie) of Calgary; eight grandchildren: Jason, Steven, Stacy, Mark, Laura, Ellen, Diane and Paula; 3 great-grandchildren: Darsea, Austin, and Coen. Her son Bill preceded her in death.
The family wish to thank the wonderful care Mary received from Dr. Elcey Varkey (GP) and Dr. Wendy Wang and her team (Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic) over the past two years. We also wish to acknowledge the expertise of EMS and the Stroke Team. In her final days, Mary and her family received outstanding, compassionate care from the Unit 46 staff at Foothills Medical Center.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00p.m. Forward condolences through . In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request that contributions be made to Unit 46 at the Special Services Building, Foothills Medical Center (1403 29 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 2T9), or a charity of your choosing.
