Obituary of Joan CAMERON

May 15, 1927 – Cambuslang, Scotland December 17, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Cameron at Rockyview Hospital on December 17, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Cherished mother to Carolyn “Carrie” Wasden (Harold) and Ian Cameron; much loved grandmother to Caitlyn Boulette (Ivan), Jacquelyn Wasden, and Stevie Cameron. She was a wonderful great-grandmother to Braelyn and Henry Boulette. Outstanding sister and best friend to Jean Davidson and fondly remembered by the Jack and Cameron families of Calgary and Scotland and the Wasden family of Calgary. Joan was born May 15, 1927 in Cambuslang, Glasgow, Scotland. She was the eldest of four children, born to Alexander Jack and Charlotte Jack (nee Welsh). She moved to Canada in 1956, to be married to her late husband, Lachlan Angus Cameron, who predeceased her in 1975. Together they had three children, son Ian, eldest daughter Carolyn, and youngest daughter Elaine, who predeceased her in 1995. Joan enjoyed the love and support of the Brothers and Sisters of the Order of Eastern Star for over forty-five years. She served as Worthy Matron of Chinook Chapter #133 in 1976. Joan was awarded a lifetime membership on June 3, 2018. What an outstanding day of fraternal reunions. Mom Cameron had a special place in her heart for Job’s Daughters, acting as Bethel Guardian of Bethel #19. She traveled extensively with her brothers and sisters to Louisiana, Georgia, Las Vegas, Jamaica, the Caribbean, Alaska and Australia. Joan was a huge fan of Johnny Reid, attending every concert in Calgary since the start of his career. They developed a profound friendship over the years, which saw her dancing on his stage several times. These mother/daughter dates will be treasured for a lifetime.
