Obituary of Vera Audrey SAVAGE

September 20, 1923 – London, England September 9, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta Vera Savage of Calgary passed away peacefully on September 9, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Vera was born and raised in London, England. She joined the forces at the age of 18, in 1941, during the Blitz. She married Flt. Lieutenant Cyril Raymond Savage, DFC, in September of 1944 in London. He predeceased her in 1996. She came to Canada in 1945 as a War Bride, of whom there are fewer and fewer remaining. Although Vera had lost her mobility during the past year, she maintained her sense of humour, pragmatism, and pride in her family. Vera is survived by her son, Lawrie Savage (Michelle), daughter Jennifer Wells (David), and daughter Anne Savage. Vera was much loved by her grandchildren, Stephanie Savage, Erika Savage (Phil), Alyson Savage (Bob), Ivy Savage, Nicole Forrest (Jeremy), Dominique Wilson (Mike), Les Wells (Raquel), Luke Savage and Connor Savage. She will be missed by great-grandchildren Danielle, James, Natalie, Hailey, Evie, Margot, Levi and Stanton, and she was looking forward to meeting a new great-grandchild in February. The family would like to thank Dr. David Todd for his excellent care over decades, and the staff and volunteers at Bow Crest Care Centre. She will be missed.
