Obituary of Carol Eileen LITTLE
LITTLE, Carol Eileen (née McKinlay)
December 5, 1949 – Calgary, Alberta
June 25, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
Carol Little, beloved wife of Don Little, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the age of 65.
Carol was born into a proud second-generation Calgarian family and raised by her parents, Verdie and Alexander McKinlay. Carol made many life-long friends through her high school days at Viscount Bennett, especially with her Just Us Five acapella group. From an early age, Carol knew that her purpose was to draw on her artistic talents to create life connections through observing, creating, and sharing the world around her. In 1972, she went to the Alberta College of Art where she earned a Fine Arts degree and received a scholarship to attend the Institudo d’Allende in Mexico. Carol returned home to marry the love of her life, and soulmate, Don Little on April 6, 1974. They were happily married for 41 years. She poured her heart into enjoying every moment of life. This joy, humour, and generosity drew many friends and family around her. As an accomplished artist, she shared her passion for art through teaching hundreds of students in Calgary and Arizona with her “just do it” attitude. Carol cherished her family and loved to celebrate the big and little milestones of life – whether making wedding invitations or attending graduation ceremonies for her daughters, or swimming in the pool after a bike ride with her grandchildren. When she was not with family, Carol could be found on the golf course where she became an avid golfer at Priddis Greens, Pebble Creek, and the many other courses she played on her world-wide adventures.
Besides her loving husband Don, Carol is survived by her brother Don McKinlay (Dawn); daughters and sons-in-law, Elaina and James Mack, and Jolene and Blair Cashin; and, her beloved grandchildren Kayla, Charlotte, Austin, and Sebastian. She will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends both near and far.
We are forever grateful to our friends and family for their incredibly generous love and support.
“The creative process is universal. Yet each of us moves through life in their own personal rhythm. I want to make a connection – and in some way relay the joy and pleasure I receive in my creations.” – Carol E. Little
