Obituary of Caroline BROKAW-HOLMES
With sadness of heart the Holmes family announces our sweet Caroline has passed away at Chinook Hospice from her battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by Corliss, her loving husband of 60 years, four children, Stephen (Kathy) Holmes, Hal Ray Holmes, Brent (Lina) Holmes, Craig (Renae) Holmes, eight grandchildren, Nathan, Joshua, Jonah, Corinne, Sage, Melissa, Tylon, Maximus, two sisters, Roena Hintz, Becky (Bob) Reiter, Brother Warren Brokaw and sister in-law Elizabeth Ostrander. She has been called home by our Lord and Savior for a blessed reunion with her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette (Charles) Olson, brother Ray Brokaw, brother-in-law Howard Hintz.
Caroline was born December 18 in Hannah Township, near Cleveland, Illinois; the daughter of Ray C Brokaw and Bushie Mercer. She was a registered nurse, graduating from the Lutheran school of nursing. She worked as a nurse for many years before devoting the next chapter of life raising four boys and being at her husband’s side as he ministered at various Lutheran Churches, and she was a unit clerk at Rockyview Hospital until she retired.
Caroline adored spending time with her grandchildren. She really enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, sitting on the front porch, playing cards, neighborhood walks and going out with friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Cross, the Heart Foundation or the Lymphoma Canada Foundation.
Funeral service will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Cross, (10620 Elbow Drive SW Calgary) on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Laura and Phil Holck officiating.
Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
