Obituary of Berend Albertus SCHROEDER

1921 – 2015 The family of Berend Schroeder announces his passing on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Berend spent more than 5 decades in this city and touched the lives of many people through a long career with Amoco Canada and providing assistance to the needy and underprivileged in his retirement years. Berend is lovingly remembered by his sons and their spouses, Curt and Pat, Marc and Leslie, Claude and Hilary; his daughter-in-law Leona Schroeder; and grandchildren, Michelle (Nathan), Hartley (Kristy), Winston, Christofer, Matthew, Nicholas, Anna, Lukas, Stephen, and Alyssa. He was predeceased by his wife Gudrun and son Olaf. The family warmly invites all of his friends and neighbours to a Funeral Prayer Service to be held at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 – 45 St. S.W.) on Friday, May 8th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. as well as a Celebration of Funeral Divine Liturgy at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church on Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bohdan Nahachewsky, Celebrant. A lunch reception will be followed by a Graveside Service at Cochrane Cemetery. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Rosedale Hospice.
