Obituary of Timothy Tim John TIESSEN
March 1, 1956 – Kitchener, ON
November15, 2014 – Sundre, AB
Tim Tiessen beloved husband of Trudi of Water Valley, AB, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the age of 58 years.
It is with great sadness that our family says goodbye to our husband and father; Tim – you will be forever in our hearts!!!
Tim is survived by his loving wife Trudi Tiessen; children, Tamara Tiessen, Tiffany Tiessen (Wayne Kingsbury), Amanda Rose (Steve Bauhart) and Jessica Rigsby (Steve Rigsby); grandchildren Kaleb and Charlie Rigsby ; sister Julie Redding (Nick Redding),their children Cecelia Campbell and Pauline Redding; and brother Gerry Tiessen (Sue Tiessen), and their son Richard Tiessen. He was predeceased by his father John Abraham Tiessen, from Orloff, Ukraine and his mother June Mary Tiessen (nee Hudson), from Galt, Ontario.
Tim was born March 1, 1956 in Kitchener, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Electrical Engineering degree. Following his passion, he worked for 30 years at General Dynamics Canada which brought him out to Alberta in 1994. Tim was bright and creative, but humble about his accomplishments. He enjoyed photography, music, family dinners, reading (his favourites were Robert A. Heinlein, Tom Clancy, and Michael Crichton), and anything Star Trek! Tim appreciated and admired the works of Monet and all the Group of Seven artists. He was a fun-loving and good-hearted family man – deeply proud of his daughters and their achievements and instrumental in researching his family history.
Tim never hesitated to help anyone in need however he could. Such a giving spirit, he was well known for bringing home people who were down on their luck and helping them get back on their feet. It was this way that complete strangers soon became good friends.
Tim passed away in his sleep on November 15, 2014. He believed that there was a special spark, spirit or soul in everyone and when we passed, this returned to the Great Spirit somewhere in the timeless sky. Tim loved animals and believed that they too had a piece of this special spark in them as well – he treasured all life in this way.
A favourite quote of Tim’s was: “The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it’s the same problem you had last year.” – John Foster Dulles.
