Obituary of Dorothy Marie (nee Stacy) Standish

Dorothy Standish (nee Stacy) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Born and raised in Calgary, Dorothy graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1958. Dorothy met her husband in Banff while working there for a summer following high school. Dorothy was married to Gordon for fifty-three years prior to his death in 2017. Dorothy and Gordon had two children, Daryl and Lisa. Dorothy and Gordon spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona where they met new friends and escaped the cold winters. Dorothy enjoyed curling, golfing, playing cards with her friends, crossword puzzles, reading and Star Trek. She was an avid walker and looked forward to her annual summer trek around the Glenmore Reservoir. All who knew her soon learned not to fall for her phrase “Let’s go for a quick walk”. Dorothy will be missed for her witty sense of humour, her kind heart and her love of animals.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Daryl (Mary Jo) of Calgary, AB and Lisa (Ernie) of Houston, TX; her in-laws, Gayle and Peter, Russell and Sharon and Brian and Crista; and many nieces and nephews and life-long friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Gordon.
