Obituary of Linda Beth MACDONALD (nee Spicer)

November 22, 1949 - Fredericton, New Brunswick

April 12, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Linda MacDonald (nee Spicer) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the age of 70. There is comfort in knowing she passed on the same day as her beloved father’s birthday. The family expresses their warmest gratitude to Rosedale Hospice for their exceptional caregiving during her final months.

Linda’s roots are New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, but she had resided in Calgary since 1981. She loved spending time with her family and friends, was a voracious reader, travelled the world (25+ countries), and adored the East coast and all its history.  She had an avid interest in the arts, ship building, light houses and thoroughly enjoyed and supported several charities.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Jen Spicer of Panama, and her son, Matt MacDonald (Mark) of Calgary.  She is also survived by her brothers, John Spicer (Anne) and Neil Spicer (Sue Ann) and nieces Kaitlin Spicer-Wessels (Gerrit) and Tara Spicer (Kristian).  Linda is survived as well by her aunt, Greta Cummings and her cousins, John, Heather and Beth.   She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley T. Spicer (Gwen) and C. Ruth Spicer (nee Cummings).

Prior to cremation, there will be a visitation at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held in Spencer’s Island, Nova Scotia this summer (date to be determined). In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to make a donation to, or volunteer at, their favourite charity- she would love that.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Linda’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
