Allan CAITHNESS

Obituary of Allan Blair CAITHNESS

May 25, 1963 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
May 2, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Al Caithness born May 25, 1963 went to be with the Lord. Al passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2020 with family by his side.

He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Lori, sons, Clinton (Kealy), Alec, and grandson Jayce. He also leaves to mourn his mother Gail Caithness, sister Charlene (Cam) Edelson, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, numerous friends and colleagues.

Al enjoyed fishing and golfing at the many lakes of Manitoba with family and friends. He loved to travel and had many memorable vacations with family. Good times were shared with special friends Ted and Eileen Fatorus on many of them, especially the Italy/Greece trip. Coaching for the Crowfoot Hockey Association was one of Al’s favorite pastimes, where he made lasting memories with sons Clinton and Alec, and most recently attending to watch his grandson Jayce’s hockey games.

Al recently celebrated forty years of service with Safeway/Sobeys. His career was glittered with many accomplishments. From food clerk as a teenager to Construction Manager. The many relationships formed over his career was his biggest accomplishment.

One of Al’s favorite quotes was “There are three types of people in this world. People that wished it happened. People that watched it happen, and People that make it happen.” His sons will always remember their father’s quick wit and loving guidance throughout their lives. Clinton and Alec will always look up to their father as their biggest role model and strive to walk in his footsteps.

Al you are my everything, my soulmate, my best friend and the love of my Life. I will always treasure our love and keep it in my heart until we meet again. You always told me and the boys that “difficult times never last but determined people do.” It’ll be hard but I will try to carry on knowing that you’ll be with me every step of the way. I will miss you and love you forever. Lori.

During this difficult time our family was so blessed to have the kindness and compassion of many friends and family. Your gifts of food, flowers and all the thoughts and prayers really helped to comfort us. We thank you all. We especially want to thank Auntie Char for being there for her Brother and us.

Our family will be together to honor Al on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Celebrations of Life will be held in Calgary and Manitoba when it is
safe to do so.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made in Al’s memory directly to The Canadian Cancer Society. https://www.cancer.ca/en/donate. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Al’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
