Obituary of Alan Roderick LOW

July 19, 1926 – Edmonton, Alberta

May 14, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Alan Low of Calgary, AB, passed away on May 14, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

 

Alan was born July 1926 in Edmonton Alberta son of Arthur Chapman Low and Beatrice Helen Low (nee White).

 

Alan graduated from Crescent Heights High school in Calgary Alberta, earning his Senior Matriculation. Alan was employed by the Mannix organization from 1948 to 1961 in field offices throughout Canada. He joined J.F Burns Sand and Gravel in 1961 as Office Manager and their successor company Burnco Rock Products Ltd., as Manager of Administration until his retirement in 1982.

 

Alan is survived by two sons Rod Low (Leslie) and Bruce Low (Wendy), three daughters, Jackie Peters (Ron Dick) Jodi Sharuga (Jason Contenti), and Dawna Ondrik (Stephen). He also leaves five grandsons, Christopher Low, Robin Nadon, Tyler Sharuga, Tanner Sharuga and Levi Ondrik. Five granddaughters, Kelly Nimko (Stacey), Tessa, Alanah and Brynn Low and Jade Ondrik, and one great-granddaughter Jordan Low. He was also survived by Sister-in-laws, Lorraine Sloan of Calgary and Velma Kanashiro of Okotoks. Also survived by Brother-in-law Dick Kanashiro (Yuki) of Lethbridge. Alan also had numerous nephews, nieces, and friends in Ontario, Alberta, Vancouver Island and Washington State.

 

Alan was predeceased by his wife Helen Low (nee Kanashiro) in 2018, and his first wife Kathleen Low (nee James). Alan lost his brother Arthur Low in WWII. Predeceased to Alan was also his Mother Beatrice Low, Father Arthur Chapman Low, Brother Douglas Low and Sister Helen Lusk, Sister-in-laws Dorothy Low, Minako Kanashiro and Alice Kanashiro, Yeiko Higa, Fumiko Yamamoto. Brother-in-laws, Dale Lusk, Shucho Higa, John Kanashiro, Ken Kanashiro, Jack Kanashiro, Jim Kanashiro and Jerry Yamamoto.
