May 16, 2020 - Calgary    Alberta

Debbie Murray (nee Alton) , beloved wife of Kenneth Robert Murray of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the age of 66 years.

Debbie moved to Calgary in 1972 to start her own adventure.  It was in Calgary that she met her best friend and would be husband Ken in 1973.  Ken & Debbie went on to marry June 17, 1978 and have called Calgary home ever since.

Debbie and Ken had two daughters Amanda in 1983 and Leah in 1990.  Debbie was most proud of them.  They became her entire purpose and she loved nothing more than being with them and Ken.

Debbie spent 26 years in finance working for the Toronto Dominion Bank.  During this period she met many dear friends that she remained in contact with over the years.  We enjoyed hearing their stories.

Debbie will be remembered most for her kindness, her patience and her generosity.

Besides her loving husband Ken, Debbie is survived by Amanda Murray (Jose Cabrera) of Calgary AB, Leah Murray (Kenny Leduc) of Airdrie, AB; her  grandchildren Edward & Ida Cabrera of Calgary AB;  her brother George Alton (Judy) of Leduc AB,  Joan Ericson (Clifford) of Drayton Valley AB,  James “Jim” Alton of Sherwood Park AB;  as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents Edith I Alton & G. Edward Alton of Thorsby AB, her beloved Aunt and Uncle Lena & Fritz Nystrom of Widewater AB, her brothers Wilfred Alton of Red Deer AB and Ronald “Buck” Alton of Edmonton AB.

There will be no public service at this time.  We will gather as a family at a later date to scatter her ashes and celebrate her life.

In living memory of Debbie Murray, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE NE, Calgary, AB, T2A 3V9, Telephone: 403- 248-8585.

In lieu of flowers we would ask that you consider a donation to the Kidney Foundation in Debbie’s name.
