Obituary of James Angus MCLELLAN

July 20, 1938 - Sudbury , Ontario           
June 16, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta   

James Angus McLellan passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary, AB, on Tuesday, June 16.

Jim was born and raised in Northern Ontario. He attended St. Francis of Xavier University and it was there he met the love of his life, Christine. After graduating with his degrees in Mathematics and Education, Jim and Chris headed out west to Medicine Hat, AB, where he began his illustrious teaching career. As a teacher, Jim had a profound impact on his students, evidenced in the many accolades he received and cherished over the years from his many students. Although Jim retired after thirty-two years of teaching, he did not retire from helping others. He ran a home improvement for seniors’ business for many years where he was always there to help with a project or care for someone special.

Jim pursued many academic interests and hobbies. He had a strong Catholic faith that he shared freely and lived daily. He was a proud member of AA and guided many people to find their way. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Jim during his eighty-one years. His impact on us all is genuine and long lasting. He will be truly missed.

Jim was devoted to Christine, his wife of fifty-seven years. He was a loving father to Mary (Diederick), Dan (Loretta), and Heather (Joe). He was a proud grandfather to Matthew, Ben, Kathryn, Robyn (Alana, Kaleb), Krissy, Devin, Melissa, Stewart, and, Spencer. Jim was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and, friend to everyone. Jim loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family and friends.

Jim was the youngest of four children and was predeceased by his parents, Mary Catherine and Daniel, as well as his siblings, Anne, Donald, and Joseph.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (1305 Main St. S, Airdrie, AB) on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on James’ obituary at www.McInnisHolloway.com.
