Our condolences to everyone feeling the loss of Jeannie these days. We would like to share some of our memories. We have also posted some of our favourite pictures with Jeannie.
My Great-Aunt Jeannie was a wonderful person to know, so glad she was a part of my life for so long. I have so many memories. My earliest was as a very young girl trying to find the elusive cat Jeannie and Harper had, in their old house in Mount Royal. Cat would hide in the basement and Jeannie would laugh at me trying to find it, she had such a full laugh and when she smiled her face lit up. I remember going to tea – her favourite Petit Point china and MacLaren’s Imperial cheese! Jeannie was down to earth and loved to chat. I was very much older when I learned her nickname when she was young was Jeannie-Belle, I thought that suited her to a T. She will be missed but we were lucky to have her for so long. I’ve shared Jeannie and Harper’s wedding picture to enjoy. She would be pleased to hear we’ve raised a glass to her.

"When someone becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure."
My earliest memories of being with Aunt Jeannie were going to her house and being introduced to experiences that we didn't have at home, like POPCORN..Jolly Time in Red or Blue cans and playing cards, Chinese food and spaghetti.
I also discovered being sent to talk to the hot water heater when my behavior wasn't considered to be appropriate!
In later years our contact was more about meeting for lunch at Moxie’s or dinner at Matador, where all the staff knew her name and were happy to chat with her. Boxing Day at Leigh's was a favourite time and we looked forward to it every year.
After the move to first Chartwell and then Brentwood we talked about loneliness and she said that she had all those good memories. Memories were her treasures. She is much loved and missed by all who knew her.

How fortunate we were to have a great aunt like Jeannie. I loved her sense of humour and her caring ways. She inspired you to try and be a better person. When I think of Jeannie I think of the lunches and dinners we had at the “Matador”, her answer to the question “Where should we go to eat?”. She was such a loyal customer and they treated her like royalty. My favourite memories are all those Boxing Days she (and Harper) shared with our family at our home in Brentwood. Maybe one of the reasons they never missed was the Scotch Harper always received for Christmas. She will be missed!

We will miss Jeannie’s kind and gentle nature, her quick wit, and amazing sense of style that was never lost. We're glad that she and Harper are finally together again so that their hearts can be whole.

Jeannie and Harper were long-time members of Varsity Acres Presbyterian Church. Such an unassuming couple who were always so friendly and appreciative of friendships.During COVID I have been missing my visits to Jeannie in Brentwood. Rest in Peace

We were so sorry to hear of Jeanne passing. Jeanne and Harper were great friends of my parents Cec and Helen Henderson and travelled to many wonderful places together. Jeanne was always a help with my father who had myasthenia gravis — she would often go up and help him with opening up his home delivered meals and they would share a sandwich — then of course they always had their 3:00 happy hour together with Jean Warner and my Mother when she was home from the care facility. Dad always joked that Jeannie and Jean were his pair of “jeans”. Wonderful friends, she will be missed.
