Condolences
I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to Monique and the family.
I first met Greg when he came to Public Storage to install satellite equipment for the then new computer system. He was so fun and funny and there was no question that he was a genuine gentleman. From his position on the roof he got a bird’s eye view of all the comings and goings on the property. Being in and out of the office he also got a good idea of what was involved with the amount of paperwork that had to be done.
Over coffee one morning he said, “My wife and I would like to work together. Who would we have to talk to do something like this?”
My reply, “You talk to me, Greg.”
And he did, and then brought Monique to visit the property. On the Monday after that visit I phoned my district manager and told him he needed to meet Greg because I was pretty sure this was going to be the next manager couple at that location.
Greg started training part-time until his satellite installation contracts were fulfilled and then moved to full time. Monique started the following January. At that time, I had been working for Public Storage for eight years, two of them on my own since my husband’s passing. We arranged my moving out and their moving in between ourselves, a feat which was apparently much admired and appreciated by our bosses.
I continued working for Public Storage as a relief manager and again as manager of another property until August 2010. After I left the company, I still dropped in to see Greg and Monique whenever I could. Greg was the brother I never had, the guy who always greeted me with a big smile and a bigger hug. I appreciated his sense of humour, irreverent at times but never mean, his quick wit and happy-go-lucky air.
My memories of Greg will always be of a man who had a zest for life, who adored his wife and family. He will be sorely missed, but never ever forgotten.
