Obituary of Howard ARNOLD

August 10, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Howard Arnold of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the age of 98 years.

Howard was born on a farm in Irvine, AB, and following his schooling, moved to Medicine Hat, AB. He joined the Armed Forces in 1939 and was a heavy Artillery in WWII. During the war, he met the love of his life, Edith, and they were married in 1945.  Howard returned to Medicine Hat and went to work for Alberta Clay Products. In 1958, Howard went to work for Canada Post as a letter carrier until 1987 when he retired. He was always known for his happy attitude with his work and infectious smile. In 2001, Howard and Edith decided to move to Calgary in order to be closer to their family. Howard was engaged in many charitable organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fraternal Order of Elks, and an officer in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Howard is survived by his daughter Nena (Ray) Fuller, son Darell (Bev) Arnold, son Neil Arnold and son-in-law Thomas Sobkowich. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. Howard was predeceased by his loving wife Edith in 2005, his daughter Lolita Sobkawich in 2018.
