Condolences
Donna and I were classmates in nursing school. After graduation she talked me into going to Cold Lake (her parents were there at the time). We were going to work for awhile at the hospital there and then go to California! Of course she met Don and that was that I was in their wedding party.
We have kept in touch all these years and saw each other at reunions. She was a wonderful friend and a great nurse .I am so sorry she is gone .My condolences to all her wonderful
family. I mourn with you for my dear friend
Much love to you all. Lynn Ailor (Peer) clas of 1960
My mom, Roberta McLaughlin, let me know that “Mrs. Savard” passed away. The Savard’s were old friends of my parents, and Kim (Kimmy - sorry about that!) and I were childhood friends. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom, Kim. All the kids in the neighbourhood knew to go see Mrs. Savard for bandaids and a hug for our bumps and bruises - Mrs. Savard was a nurse and could fix anything. My hope for you, Kim and Shane, is that the loving memories of your Mom carry you through this sad time. Please let us know if there will be a service in the future so I can give you my condolences in person. Hugs and best wishes - Samantha (aka Sammy).
It is not often that you meet someone with such radiance, warmth, good cheer and a smile that would always warm your heart. As an IPL/Enbridge alumnus I was mentored by Don and we were befriended by both Don and Donna. I would look forward to seeing Donna at Christmas parties and sadly, funerals. She was such a positive influence that we were profoundly touched after every interaction. To know someone like Donna is a gift; to have her as part of your family must have been an immeasurable treasure. Our prayers are with the family and that Don and Donna may once again be together.

Sending our sincere sympathy. We always enjoyed the quick visits as Donna went by our cabin on the way to hers!
She was a spirited happy lady and will be so missed. She will be with Don now and they will be forever remembered by their Marie Lake neighbors.
Sincerely,
The Vinek family

I met Donna at the Edmonton Bridge Centre. She was a formidable opponent and I truly enjoyed playing with her. Donna had the most beautiful smile and welcomed everyone coming to her table. Her joy of and commitment to living a good life was an inspiration. My condolences to her family, Sue Burns
Shane, Kim, and families:
What a beautiful tribute to your mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother! We smiled through our tears. Thought we were prepared for the inevitable, but not even remotely! Donna and Don will forever be mourned for leaving us too soon but our time with them will stay with us as wonderful memories. While at the lake shortly before Donna’s passing, we were so disappointed that the loons were gone. A few days later in the early morning, we were delighted to hear one singular call. Later that day, another call. Then silence. We like to believe it was Donna, saying her goodbyes. To Donna’s family, we say, “Let those wonderful memories sustain you through your terrible heartbreak. You are in our thoughts”. To Donna, we say, “We will cherish our memories of times spent with you. May you be in peace and with your beloved Don.” Neil & Beryl
I met Donna once in Cross Cancer Institute, where over coffee, myself and Dr Weinfeld discussed the ongoing research in our team on the development of a new drug for lung and colorectal cancer. With a beautiful smile on her face, she kept asking questions about our research and also told us about her grand kids and their accomplishments. I remember leaving the meeting with a great sense of admiration for this lady, and more motivation and determination for fulfilling our research goals. Her generous support of our research has made and continues to make a significant impact. It was a pleasure to know and meet Donna. On behalf of myself, and research trainees in my group, I send my deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

It was always a pleasure to meet with Donna when she came to the Cross Cancer Institute to discuss our research project. She was very interested in what we were doing and asked many pertinent questions. I remember when she came up to the lab to meet the members of the research team and immediately made everyone feel at ease with her wonderful smile. Her generous support for our research was so much appreciated and continues to make a difference. On behalf of my research team, I send my condolences on Donna's passing to her family and friends.

We were very sorry to hear of Donna's passing. From the Eastern Family - Roger, Doug, Diana, and Debbie - To Kim and Shane and Families - our deepest condolences.
Donna always drew attention to the loons singing on Marie Lake, insisting that it was Don watching out for her as well as their family and friends, this serenade a constant soundtrack to her time at the lake. The loons singing at the end of this video were recorded one beautiful summer evening at the lake, and the photo was also taken at the lake. Donna has been reunited with Don and we are sure that they will continue singing while watching over us.
