Robert (Bob) OWENS

Obituary of Robert (Bob) Ivan OWENS

August 11, 1950 – October 8, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Owens announces his passing on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 70.

Bob was born and educated in Saskatchewan, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Saskatchewan in 1972.  He always said that knowledge gave him the skills to work successfully as a veterinary pharmaceutical sales representative in western Canada.  He began work as a sales rep for McCarthy and Sons Supply later that year and over the next forty years progressed from sales manager to owner of the company.  Bob also started a companion company, Rafter 8 Products. His legacy continues as both companies continue to flourish. He has always been proud that many of those early clients have become lifelong friends.

In the last few years as Bob began to reduce his daily workload, Bob and Debbie enjoyed extensive travel around the world, as well as winter trips to US to golf and visit friends. It was a joy as well to be able to walk to the golf course that they are members of.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband and best friend to his beloved wife Deborah for forty-nine years, a caring father to Jessica Bell (Jason) and Jonathan Owens (Alexandra); as well as a proud grandfather to Maddox Owens, Christopher Bell, Keeva Owens, Caitlin Bell and Bodhii Owens. He is also survived by his mother Mary, and sisters, Bonnie Falkenberg (Harold), Marie Lau (Dick), and Maxine Moore (Jim). He was predeceased by his father John.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be viewed and shared on Bob’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com

We would like to suggest a donation to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre where Bob received professional and compassionate care from Dr. Richard Lee-Ying over the last three years. Special thanks to Dean England and Dr. Audra Arlain in the Complex Cancer Management (Palliative Pain & Symptom) clinic for their support as well.

In living memory of Bob Owens, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES.
