Obituary of Joyce Marie MYCHALUK

April 11, 1939 – Maryfield, Saskatchewan

October 29, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Joyce Marie  Mychaluk beloved wife, mother, and grandmother of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

Joyce was born in Maryfield, Saskatchewan on April 11, 1939. Her family moved to Clyde, Alberta where she went to grade school. Joyce moved to Edmonton to become a nurse and graduated from the Edmonton General Hospital in 1960.  Joyce met Elmer and they were married in 1961. Joyce continued her nursing career until she had her first born.

Joyce stayed home, nurtured and raised three daughters, was the family pillar and supported her husband’s career. In 1999, Joyce and Elmer moved to the farm. Joyce enjoyed many family and friend gatherings at the farm which would include horseback riding, many laughs and BBQ’s. After 14 years of very pleasant rural living at the farm, Joyce and Elmer returned to Calgary in 2013 to be closer to family and friends.

Joyce will be remembered for being strong, positive and seeing the good in everything, very fair, loving and supportive. She enjoyed poetry, art, music, horses, gardening and golf.

Joyce was hoping to celebrate her 60th Wedding Anniversary on January 20, 2021. Joyce and Elmer were very close and together all of the time.  Their love was strong.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Elmer; eldest daughter Luana and her husband Jaro; middle daughter Lori and her husband Bruce; and youngest daughter Lynn.  Joyce was blessed with five grandchildren, Colin and girlfriend Rebecka; Jake and girlfriend Ivy; Brody and girlfriend Delaney; Xane and Liam; and 2 step-grandchildren, Iain and Kristie. She is also survived by her sister Maxine, and her nephew Dale and wife Shelly; brother-in-law Morley and wife Karen, and nephew Keith and wife Natalia.

Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Due to COVID there will be no memorial.  Please take a moment to remember and celebrate Joyce’s life safely in your home.
