Condolences
Michael and I are so sorry to hear of Aunt Shirley's passing. She was a great lady, with a terrific sense of humour and I'll never forget her smile, even after all these many years. Your Dad's presence loomed large, but your Mom was ever present, steadfast and great fun to be around.
The obituary gave me some insight into her and took me back to our visit to Calgary where I know we all enjoyed her cooking. Not that my Mom wasn't a wizard in the kitchen.... these 2 ladies had a true talent for creating a spread. I also remember the times in Hickson when she visited and got behind the wheel.... I think my Mom was somewhat shocked at her sister's ability to put the pedal to the metal. Wow! Confident and apparently unable to adjust her speed to Ontario limits! I was enthralled.....and later, with my Mom behind the wheel, I could see the same look of determination to "get there". Fascinating gene pool to inherit.
I know that you have many great memories of her to look back on. May you know no more sorrow.
Cousin Jan (and Michael) Fox
from Cousin John,
I have many fond memories of Aunt Shirley (and Uncle Shell) from my visits to Calgary. I remember Shirley asking me at dinner one day how often my Dad and Mom (Lloyd and Helen) went out for dinner at a restaurant. After I answered she looked at your Dad and said "See Shell?" She will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences to all who love our dear Shirley.
In memory Sheldon Crewson brought me into their home as a care nurse for Shirley and I quickly became a welcome member of the family. Together we created a beautiful joyful world for Shirley for the stage of her life that could have been very lonely as many changes in her health began to limit her from enjoying the life she was used to. Ive spent the last 6 years with Shirley. We shared a connection as dear friends,
we tackled surgery, and grieved together the passing of Sheldon her dear husband, and Jessie her sons Canine companion of many years.
The change with aging was a struggle for Shirley as giving of her time to support her Church Community & friends was so important as was preparing a beautiful meal for her family.
I’m left with deep heartfelt gratitude & cherished memories for the time I was blessed to share with Shirley, Sheldon, Stephen & Laurie.
Shirley I will carry forever the moments we shared together
in my heart, the lessons you taught me & the difference you made in my life. I love you Shirley, love always Jonni

Your Mom used to run into my Mom at Coop. Mom was always so excited to see her. They would share some good laughs and catch up on all the news. Then she'd phone to tell me how you were doing.
It was so kind of your Mom to host my wedding shower, we won't say how long ago. Your Mom was always so welcoming whenever I came to visit. Her smile will always be the first thing I think of when I think of her.

I was very sadened to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a wonderful Mom and Aunt. I have treasured memories of her when I was a child. I went with her to her school on several occasions and was very proud to share that she is my aunt. Over the years and as life moves along you sadly lose touch. I did send her letters and pictures as my family grew and received many family pictures and stories of you, Laurie, Judy and Stephen. Your Dad was the best and they will be missed and cherished always.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Shirley's passing and your loss. So wonderful though that you were allowed to spend that time with her. It is an immense feeling that you will carry with you forever, for it builds character and fills our hearts. I so enjoyed Aunt Shirley and Uncle Shell. They had such a zest for life and laughter which seemed to wrap their arms right around you. Amazing that they lived to be the same age too. Fond memories of your visits East, sleepovers on cots while telling ghost stories in the garage, flashlights under our chins, and of course our trip West in 1972.
Love,
Cousin Julie
Dee and I are so sorry for your loss and will pray that you find comfort in the good memories. One story Laurie shared with me is when an RV was parked in front of the house. Shirley went out and knocked on the door. I'm sure the occupants were expecting to be asked to move their vehicle. No, Shirley wanted to know if they were okay, if they needed anything. Did they want supper? This was Shirley, kind and generous. Our condolences to the whole family. Love Karen and Dee.
