Condolences
To my grandma, Mrs. Perry,
I still can't believe you are gone. I love you so much and I will never forget the good times with you and having heart to heart talks with you. You were and still are our family's rock. You impacted so many people in such a good way. Youfought your tail off until the end like a soldier. Now that you are with Uncle Brian and Uncle Bobby and grandpa Joe I feel you are right at home again. I know you aren't gone gone and I can't wait to see you again. I love u so much Grandma and miss you a ton. May God take you on his journey he has planned and may your light forever shine upon us all.
Margaret Perry was my mother's sister. She was a free spirit with an amazing memory. When I spent a few days with her in November of 2018 to dig for details of my mother's life she said to me. 'My mind is as cluttered as this house.' Yet she could recall details with excellent accuracy. During that visit I learned that Aunt Margaret left her home on the family farm at the age of 19 along with her sister Agnus. 'We were like two peas in a pod.' They packed their clothes in bags since they had no suitcase and took the train to Camrose. There Margaret and Agnus went to business college for one year paying their way as they went by cleaning houses. It was 1939 when they finished, war had broken out and 'Everybody was going every which way.'
I was surprised to learn that Margaret was a school bus driver.
It was well into the 30s when motorized vehicles appeared. Margaret drove the school van the 5 miles to Forestburg with 24 kids on board. Iit took an hour.
Aunt Margaret was like a mother to myself and my sisters in many ways especially when our own dear mother’s dementia increased..
Margaret’s love was a matter of fact. She did not like to be hugged but conceded with grace. Precious are my memories of her and great our collective loss.
Aunt Margaret and Uncle Joe were my God Parents. I remember several past visits of her and Uncle Joe visiting us on the farm.
Aunt Margaret was a super lady (As was Uncle Joe who “told it the way it is”), and a wonderful sense of humour and she was very sharp and witty!
We will miss her and visiting with her even though it was sporadic. May she Rest In Peace.
I first met Margaret twenty years ago, but our parents were friends so many years ago when we lived in the Galahad area. I believe that was the bond that made us very good friends. She was fun to visit with and we had some good laughs as well as many serious conversations. She was the luckiest lady to be able to stay in her home until her death, thanks to her wonderful family! REST IN PEACE, MARGARET, I am going to miss you. Velna
To Aunt Margaret’s Family, it is always so sad to say a final Good-Bye to a loved one. But what a long wonderful life Aunt Margaret lived! She will forever be missed. We send our thoughts & prayers. My Mom, Marion Sommer always treasured her sister Margaret. May she forever Rest In Peace. Blessings, Elaine & Brian Matthiessen HEISLER,AB
