Obituary of Philip Christopher MCDONALD

September 10, 1935 – Airdrie, Alberta December 7, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Phil, beloved husband, father and friend of Okotoks, AB, passed away at Bethany Care Centre on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the age of 82 years. He will be missed by all who loved him. Phil was born in Airdrie, AB, the third son of Elmer and Dorothy McDonald. He had a full life and in his younger years enjoyed drag racing and outriding for the chuck wagon races at the Calgary Stampede. He owned several thoroughbreds which his brother Kenny raced for him. Phil was a manager for Sears for twenty-eight years and in his spare time enjoyed the farm in Okotoks, being active as social club president for Sears for several years, dancing and curling. He liked to find fixer-upper homes to renovate and investing in rental properties. Travel was also an important part of Phil’s life and he had several wonderful vacations. Upon retiring from Sears Phil became a realtor and started his own company Mr. Lister. One of Phil’s special loves was going to auctions and collecting good buys, bad buys and antiques for the lowest possible dollar. Phil was very driven and ambitious and quite an achiever. He will forever be remembered. Phil is survived by his wife Ruth and his four children, Sue, Debbie, Steven and Allison, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Moe and Kenny and his son Chris. Shortly after his death his youngest brother Dave passed. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
