Condolences
I would like to send my condolences to the family. I worked as a Companion for four years with Joy. I enjoyed spending time with Joy. I often thought of her when I left the company. Joy was a wonderful lady.
I first met Joy in the beginning of 1960 when Joy was 4 and I hadn’t long arrived from England. She was a large part of my life for many years. Almost like a little sister to me. I am thankful that I was able to have a few nice visits with her when returning to Calgary in the latter years of her life after so many years apart. My condolences go out to Todd and Justin and their families and to all Joy’s relatives who, over the years, played such an important part in my own life and my childrens’ lives.
When I was a little girl, I remember my dad always took me to see Auntie Joy. She was so sweet and always welcome people with open arms. She was so caring and kind, with a heart of gold. I also used to call her once in a while to check in and we used to chat about almost anything. I do, and will miss her a bunch.
Todd and Justin I am so sorry for your loss, I give you my condolences and love to you and your family.
Your mom was an incredible women.
Sincere,
Pamala Deines
Todd, Justin and family, heartbroken to hear of the passing of your mum and my Aunt. She was always about love for her family and especially her sons, dedicated and committed to being a great mom. She was so gifted with creativity and her love for creating, my wedding bouquet she made still sits atop of our dresser some 31 years later. I have so many fond memories going so far back to playing jacks on grandma’s kitchen floor and a hilarious game of spoons around the kitchen table. Memories and photographs will always be close to my heart. May the beautiful memories you hold deep within your hearts, gently sooth your spirits during this difficult time and in the days and months ahead.
Love

Dear Todd & Bonny, Justin & Lindsey.
When I first met your mom Joy I was just a young adult. In our chats, I knew and could feel how strong her spiritual life led her to accept and see others in compassion.
George and I remember her warm welcomes and serving heart. Thank you Aunt Joy for being a part of our stories.

Dear Todd, Justin and families. We send our deepest condolences to you at this difficult time. I hope you find some peace in the memories of your mom. Joy was an amazing lady and will forever hold a place in our hearts. Not only was she a wonderful mom to both of you, She was caregiver to my babies, and helped to shape them into the men they have become. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to care for my kids. She was always patient and full of love for all of the kids she cared for. My boys have many happy memories growing up with all of you.
Sending you love and hugs from the Nicholls Family xo
Rest in peace my precious cousin. Todd and Justin you boys were a blessing to your Mom, she was so proud of the two of you. Your Mom was a beautiful person both in side and out. Joy was a big part of the planning of the first 3 Mac Calder Family gatherings so in honor of Joy I am making a donation to the MacCalder Family Reunion Fund that has been set up and hopefully we can all gather soon.
So many wonderful memories of Joy it is hard to pick just one. She was so talented and shared her abilities with many. She shared jokes and stories with our kids. She took the time to teach Adam how to make Flora’s famous Cinnamon Buns, shared crafts with Ariel, and showed Hailey the lamas. She spent hours with me doing genealogy. I will especially treasure the memories of how Todd, Justin and their families have done so much to look after their mom. Joy's sons and their families are a beautiful tribute to their amazing mom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Faye, Jeff and family
Justin, Todd and Family sending you my deepest condolences on the lost of your mom. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you. Love Lil Stenhouse❤️
Many years ago Justin welcomed me into his life and family. The first time I met Joy was her walking into the house we were renting, I introduced myself and she promptly gave me a hug then announced she brought cookies! Not that cookies are the way to my heart or anything... but from that moment I knew she was a great lady!
Every time we had a visit too or from her she was full of life, love and happiness. She shared pictures with me of when Justin and Todd were kids. Some embarrassing ... (I never told them about that). We would chat about the how the boys were raised, but she was humble in that she did not talk about herself unless prompted. Always asking about the person she was talking too.
It is a disheartening day to know that a beautiful soul such a Joy's has departed this world. I am honoured to have known Joy and I know she will be welcome with the same loving hug in heaven as she welcomed me with many years ago!
My love goes out to the entire family.
