Condolences
Our family was one of the first to greet Irene and Pastor Irvine at Hope Lutheran in Edmonton. They stayed at mom and dads to get their bearings prior to the big move into Edmonton. The two of them rapidly found a way into the hearts of not only our family but very many of the congregation. I can remember quite well how she successfully balanced her time between studying for her B ED and her 1 daughter and 5 boys, most of whom were in their growing teenage years. During their stay Irvin visited most of the homes in the area, then insisting to Harvey, my dad and the rest of council that we build a new sanctuary. Upon leaving Hope the two of them upped the stakes by starting up a mission church, Prince of Faith. The two of them were often in our thoughts, aware of the heartache of dealing with the aftermath of the building contractor, backing out leaving the church uncompleted. It must have taken a lot of energy from both of them to muster the volunteer forces to see it through to completion. Occasionally our family would visit the Hohm's during their stay. Irvins passing saw a contingent from Hope down for the funeral at Prince of Faith. The sight of Irene singing as she led her family in will always be in my memory.

We were saddened to learn of Irene's recent passing. She will be fondly remembered for her quiet, gentle spirit and warm, welcoming smile. During the past 65+ years, she and Irwin were often a part of our family events - baptisms, weddings, funerals. Irene was genuinely interested in the life of each family member. We especially enjoyed our visits whenever we met up in Radium or Invermere. Our telephone visits were always special times. She will be missed.
Our sincere condolences to the family; our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Pastor Hohm baptised me as a baby in Hanna. Although I didn't know that, my sister remembered & encouraged me to attend Prince of Faith. After attending one Sunday & signing the guest book, Pastor was at my door for a visit the following day, inviting me to attend services. After moving a little farther away, until I had my own car, Pastor & Irene would come to pick me up so I could attend Bible study & choir practice. They were such a loving & kind couple. They were both very special to me. I was so blessed to know them. I kept in touch with Irene a little when she lived in Invermere. One of the last letters I received from her, she mentioned her family. I could tell how proud she was of all of you & so pleased when her grandaughter was ordained. I wish you all peace & comfort in the days ahead. She will always be remembered

Just finished watching Irene's service. A very fitting service. When the Pastor talked about salt of the earth he hit the nail right on the head for Irene and Irvin. I had probably not seen them for 60 years, but they made an indelible impression on my memory. Irene and my Mom were great friends from a distance for so many years. It was such a great occasion when Dale was able to bring them together in 2018 for a visit. I thoroughly enjoyed your slide show and was able to remember and identify all five of the oldest kids. Too bad Irvin's itinerant profession has separated us all these years. Maybe we can get together some time in the future.

We will hold Irene' s memory close in our hearts. The twinkle in her eye, the wisdom in her words, the humbleness of her actions, her sense of humour and her abundant faith. She will always be treasured, missed and loved. Our condolences to the family.
I moved to Invermere in 2017 and became a member of a great book club, filled with wonderful women of which Irene was part of.
I so enjoyed talking with her and hearing her very relevant and insightful comments on the book we had just read.
She was very independent and strong.
She had such a lovely smile and beautiful eyes, aware of everything going on around her!
My deepest sympathies to Irene's family in the loss of their Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother!
She will be sorely missed by all of us here in the Valley.
How sad to hear about Irene's passing. The obituary was spot on . My first time at PoF both Beth and Irene welcomed me to the Church and encouraged me to take a role as Sunday School teacher, then working beside the other ladies in the ELW. Irene was a joy to be with at our annual retreats. My fondest retreat fun time was asking each lady to pick a word and act it out. Irene's was curler. She came out with curlers in her hair. What a good sport. She taught both my kids at Col Scott Elementary as well and when I asked her about a particular teacher, her comment was "well, she is the prettiest teacher here" She always said such kind words. Irene was a true blessing to our Church and a true friend to all. God bless you as you all mourn her loss. Lynn and Peter Dayna and Cory.
Irene, together with her husband Rev. Irvin Hohm, were a wonderful example of a dedicated pastoral team. They were a blessing to Prince of Faith Lutheran Church during the years they served us and her support for our congregation continued for many years after. We will be forever grateful. Our condolences to the family on the passing of an extraordinary lady who touched so many in her own soft and humble way.

Despite serving in Grande Prairie only a short time, Pastor Irvin and Irene left a lasting footprint on my heart. They were the most caring and genuine people I have ever met! Our Saviour shone through their every word and action; just the perfect couple when our congregation, Trinity Lutheran was between pastors! They had a heart for simplicity after having spent time abroad working with folks who had nothing and they were genuinely thankful for the blessings they received through their service to others. My thoughts and prayers are with the Holm family as you mourn the loss of your wonderful Mom. Thanks be to God for a wonderful servant! Sincerely, Diane Primeau
Susan and I have many fond memories of your mom and dad during their days at Prince of Faith and beyond. Your parents both played a large role in my entry into ministry.
On behalf of our son Jason, and our daughters Jenn and Jacquie, Susan and I would like to extend to you all our deepest sympathies on Irene's passing. May God's peace love be with you at this time and always.
Sadly, I haven't told Irene so for quite some time but I still miss eating her wonderful chocolate cake at our church dinners. It is still the best.
