April 6, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Vincenzo Izzo, beloved husband of Maria Izzo (nee Russo) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the age of 78 years.

Vincenzo was born in Pietramelara, Caserta, Italy on July 21, 1942 to Serafina Muzzo and Rocco Antonio Izzo. After moving to Canada, being the hard-working and resourceful person he was, Vincenzo worked as a truck and bus driver, bricklayer, and entrepreneur.

Vincenzo married Maria in 1965. Their union produced a son, Peter, and a daughter, Sara. He would happily tell anyone who asked that the birth of his children was one of the most memorable days of his life. Vincenzo accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of opening up Napoli Sports Club in 1974, La Dolce Vita, Mama's Restaurant, and Vince Izzo and Son Imports.

Vincenzo enjoyed dancing, playing cards, playing soccer, renovating and travelling. His three most favourite places to vacation were Mexico, Italy, and Penticton. Vincenzo loved socializing and entertaining, especially when he began storytelling. His favourite poem was ‘Footprints’, which he gladly shared with his family. Vincenzo will be most remembered for his deep and unwavering love for his family.

Besides his loving wife, Vincenzo is survived by his son Peter (Kellie) Izzo of  Calgary, AB, his daughter Sara (Randy) Izzo-Jarrett also of Calgary, AB, five grandchildren, Giuseppe Izzo-Jarrett, Maria-Elena Izzo-Jarrett (Egor Riabov), Vincent Izzo, Evano Izzo, and Nicolas Izzo-Jarrett; and one great-grandchild Tatiana Elisabella Riabov. Vincenzo is also survived by his brother Carmine Mario Izzo of Calgary, AB. Vincenzo was predeceased by his parents, Serafina Muzzo and Rocco Antonio Izzo; brothers, Giovanni Izzo, Giuseppe Izzo, Luigi Izzo, Nicola Izzo and Pietro Izzo; and sisters, Maria Izzo and Teresa Izzo.
