Condolences
Hey Dad its me Aaron. Im sure you have found Frank by now and are having a good time in your new home. Me and Mom think of you all the time and we miss you. I couldnt have asked for a better Dad. I love you and I miss you.
As we all know Uncle Daryl was a man of little words but had the biggest, kindest heart! He could talk to you for hours if it was something he knew about and you were willing to take the time to hang. Aunty Corinne and Uncle Daryl single handedly gave us some of our best memories without possibly ever knowing it. Out of the kindness of their hearts they gave our family our good old first trailer. We had so many great adventures over the years until it was time to put the Griswold to pasture. I don't know how Uncle Daryl got his supper power of hearing but that man could hear our trailer coming and by the time we got to the campsite he was there rearing up ready to back us in whether we needed it or not! These memories will follow us for the rest of our lives and for that I am thankful we have had the chance to be part of his life. I know this is devastating for both you and Aaron and the rest of the family but seeing how much he was loved I hope brings you some comfort. I wish I was there to give you a hug, all our Love.
I first got to really know uncle Daryl when he and Aunty Corinne took me as a teenager into their home in Yellowknife. It was then that I realized how caring of a person he was. I worked the night shift so He kept me on the straight and narrow by keeping me busy during the day helping to build the "world famous" bus. (The same bus that he let my family borrow for our first real travelling holiday). We would often enjoy dirt bike rides together where sometimes one of us would not be so good at jumping across hidden mud bogs....not me! When uncle Daryl was transferred to Calgary he was kind enough to let me tag along. I joined the army soon after that (I wonder who my mentor was that prompted me to do that!!). I found myself looking for a job a few years later and it was uncle Daryl once again to the rescue. He was the one that got me my very first oil patch job that started my career... I thank him dearly for that! Our fishing trip to the Yukon was something I will cherish forever, getting that much alone time on the boat allowed him to really open up and talk. I will also miss our "last one standing" chats at the campfire reminiscing of the great times we had. Uncle Daryl was always there when you needed him and I will miss him dearly.
Daryll will be missed more than he could have ever imagined. I remember going to his and Corinne‘s wedding, such a handsome man! He held himself so straight and had eyes for Corinne alone.
I remember my mother talking about Daryl, and of the time that she went to Germany with auntie for a visit/holiday. Mom had nothing but praise for the fine young man Corinne had married. Daryl and Corinne toured mom and auntie all around Germany, Austria, France, wherever they wanted to go. Mom said that it was one of the best times in her life.
My experience with Daryll was special. Whenever I would go to visit with Corinne and auntie, Daryll would occasionally emerge from his Lair in the basement and we would have a nice little visit. I always look forward to those times and enjoyed seeing him. His smile was genuine and infectious. He was the quiet, strong one. Corinne, my dear cousin, my heart goes out to you as you grieve the loss of your dear husband.
May our gracious God open wide the gates of paradise for his dear son. May He shine his face upon those who grieve Daryl, and may He bring peace to their aching hearts during this difficult time.
Love and prayers, Rosalie, John and family
My condolences to all. He will be missed and remembered by everyone.
Our condolences to you all. Daryl was a great guy, he always managed to put a smile on my face whenever I had the chance to chat with him. Rest in peace.
So very many memories. Where to start? What to say? It is not often that a person touches the lives of so many people so deeply and in such a variety of ways. Uncle Daryl was a man of many talents and few words, but when he had something to say he said it and people listened. He chose to see the good in people and expected the same in return. He loved crossword puzzles, reading, fishing, woodworking and camping. He never spoke ill of anyone, was kind and compassionate, offered advice that was helpful and never hurtful, willingly aided those in need, stood by his friends without wavering and loved his family unconditionally. How lucky we all are to have been in his circle of love. You will be greatly missed and always loved.
Uncle Daryl was a man of character and family values. He was always there for me in my time of need, whether it was for advice or just to have some one around. Him and his family helped to teach me what it was like to be part of a family by inviting me into to theirs. Never judging or criticizing just guiding and supporting. I will always love my uncle and do the best I can to carry his teachings and values with me.
Always loved and forever remembered.
Uncle Daryl was always kind and giving. He was always happy to help others when someone needed it. I cannot count the number of time he helped us whether it was lending a tool or a hand. We will miss you Uncle Daryl
I always looked up to my Dad as the strongest person I knew. I strived to be like him and I am thankful for all the ways he shaped me from when I was really small to the way I am now. He was smart, patient and kind. He always made the hard decisions when he had to and I always looked up to him for that. The world was a better place with him around.
I miss you so much Dad. I will always remember you and be proud to call you my Dad.
Say Hi to Frank for me. I know our family will be together again.
I love you,
Aaron
