Obituary of Nancye Elizabeth KILLEN (nee Gavin)

February 11, 1938 – Edmonton, Alberta

July 23, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with great sadness that after a lengthy battle with cancer, Nancye Killen, beloved wife of Ted Killen of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021.

 

Nancye will be remembered for her positive attitude and zest for life. Her heart of gold encompassed not only her family and friends, but all who knew her, making them feel like part of the family in her presence.

 

Nancye is survived by her twin sister, Sandra Yeager of Bellville, ON, sister in law, Shirley Gavin of Killaloe, ON, four children, Graham (Melody), Lynne (Richard Dupuis), Gordon (Darlene), Scott (Lynn); her ten grandchildren, all of Calgary AB; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

 

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Nancy (nee Campbell) Gavin; and her brother Robert Gavin.

 

Nancye and her family wish to express their gratitude for the prayer support (she called them her prayer warriors), and the many medical personal that allowed her to overcome numerous and serious medical issues over the past twenty five years, and the losing battle with cancer; especially her palliative care team and the staff at Southwood Hospice.

 

A Celebration of Life service is being planned to be held at Bonavista Baptist Church (1507 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. Visit the church website at www.bonavistabaptist.ca for more information. Due to Covid restrictions attendants will be limited to invite only. The service will be live streamed.

In living memory of Nancye Killen, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area
