Condolences
From Gwen and Hugh. We wanted to share a little about our mother.
.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Irene resided there until moving to Calgary in 1990 following the death of her husband Ted, leaving behind her sister Norma and family. She was happy to join her son Hugh and daughter Gwen in "Cowtown" and made many new friends. She loved exploring the city via Calgary Transit with her pals. An avid reader-Agatha Christie was a favourite-Irene volunteered at the Confederation Park 55+ Activity Centre library for many years. Irene enjoyed a lifelong interest in food and nutrition and happily planted a vegetable garden for many seasons. Irene will be missed by her daughter Gwen (and Parker) and son Hugh (and Gillian). She was delighted by the arrival of her grandchildren Taryn, Kaley, Jack and Myles, and equally thrilled to become a great-grandmother to Blacker, Ashton and Harris, She was anticipating the arrival of a fourth grandchild in February. Irene moved to Chartwell Colonel Belcher in 2018, where she enjoyed experiencing new people and activities during her final years.
A long-time proponent of animal rights, Irene supported the Alberta SPCA. If you would like to make a donation in her memory, visit https://www.albertaspca.org.
