Christine Fillion

Obituary of Christine Jacqueline Marie Fillion

October 5, 1990 – April 28, 2022

It is with deep heartache and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, fiancé, sister, and aunt, Christine Fillion, on April 28, 2022, at the age of 31.

Christine graduated from Holy Trinity Academy in 2009, and it was no surprise to anybody when she decided to pursue a career in early childhood education at both Bow Valley and Lethbridge College, where she completed her studies in 2016. She loved being surrounded by children, and always took pride in being a mentor to all her daycare and pre-school children. Her ultimate dream was to have children of her own and looked forward to starting her own family with her fiancé Jordan. Though she was tiny in stature, she was mighty and feisty, and to be loved by her was to be loved by someone larger than life. Her smile was infectious and when she smiled at you, it would light up a room and you could feel her love.

Christine’s favourite saying was “Wherever you go, go with all your heart” and that is exactly how she lived her life. She started everyday with a positive attitude and looked for the good in every person and situation. She was selfless and gave to others without ever expecting anything in return. Even after receiving her devastating diagnosis, her concern was always for those she loved rather than for herself. Her command to her loved ones in her last month was “no crying”, and with that in mind we spent our last weeks surrounding her with love and laughter – our hearts were full. If love alone could have saved her, she would have lived forever.

She is survived by her loving parents, Raymonde and Jean Degagne and Gerald Fillion, fiancé Jordan Cooper, brother Rheal Fillion, and her beloved nephew Ryder Fillion. She will also be deeply missed by her grand-parents and her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents Antonin and Florence Fillion, grand father Paul Degagne, as well as her uncles Robert Fillion and Maurice Fillion.

A Celebration of Christine’s Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can be shared and viewed here.

Christine’s family would like to express their most heartfelt and sincere appreciation to the amazing staff at AgeCare Hospice in northeast Calgary, for the continued love and compassion during her stay at the hospice.
