Obituary of Mary Josephine Hennessy

Mary Josephine Hennessy, beloved wife of Jim Hennessy of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the age of 79 years.

Josie was born in Valletta, Malta on March 7, 1943. She graduated from St. Peters High School and started working as dental receptionist. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing bridge, cooking, and gardening. Her most memorable vacation was when she travelled to Malta in 2019 to visit her family.

Besides her loving husband, Jim, Josie is survived by her sons, Jeffrey James (Erin) of Wolfville, NS and Sean Joseph (Chantel) of Calgary, AB; and her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Rory, Lauren, and Tyler. She is also survived by her brother Godfrey (Maria) of Peterborough, ON, and her sisters, Susan of Grimsby, ON, and Diane (Grad) of Peterborough, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Josie was predeceased by her parents Mary and Joseph Victor Serra.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mary's service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Journey Club at Westman Village, and Chinook Hospice.
