May 19, 2022 - Black Diamond, Alberta

Kathleen McMillan, affectionately known as Kathy, beloved wife of Scott Hills of Black Diamond, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the age of 74 years.

Kathy was born in High Prairie, Alberta on May 8, 1948, to parents Theodore and Marie Crawford. Kathy married Scott in August 2003. Together they moved to Turner Valley in 2004. She was an active member of the community, helping anyone she could along the way. With her heart of gold, she unconditionally loved all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. She was always proud of them all and loved to tell anyone and everyone about them. She never missed a practise, recital or game. Kathy had a passion for knitting and sewing, never leaving any child's stuffed animals without a sweater. Her and her husband bonded over bowling from the start of their relationship, even joining a club together. She loved the outdoors, her garden and visiting the neighborhood horses. Her most memorable vacation was going to the Kentucky Derby to watch the horse races. Kathy’s favourite saying was “put your big girl pants on”, as she was always pushing us all to do better, work harder, and never give up. She always led by example, working for as long as she could, never letting anyone get her down, and always keeping true to herself.
She will be most remembered for big heart, hilarious stories, great sense of humor, and the endless love and support she consistently provided her family.

Besides her loving husband, Kathy is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Lauri Viksush and Shanna Edwards, Dwaine Geddes; her two sons and two daughters-in-law, David McMillan and Robert Edwards, Melissa McMillan and Tammy Edwards; nine grandchildren, Garrett Geddes, Shanna Geddes, Max Geddes, Devon McMillan, Alex McMillan, Trent Edwards, Challen Edwards, Taylor Edwards and Megan Edwards; two great-grandchildren, Lexi Geddes and Katherine Geddes.

Kathy is also survived by her three brothers, Dan Crawford, Bill Crawford, and Tom Crawford; Two sisters, Tammy Vennini and Pheobe Crawford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
