Obituary of Judith Anne Gajdos

June 13, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Judith (Judy) Anne Gajdos (nee Bainard), adored wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday June 13, 2022, at the age of 75 years with family by her side. 
 
Born in New Liskeard, Judy spent much of her childhood in Ontario before moving to Alberta in 1954. In 1957, she moved to Calgary into her beloved home on Cochrane Road and graduated from William Aberhart High School in 1965.  From there, she attended the University of Calgary, where her love of dance would introduce her to a young Sandor Gajdos. From that day forward, they started their life’s journey, doing everything together from working in the education system, raising their children, doting on their five grandchildren, camping, traveling, playing cards, and even curling together (in their matching Holland America Jackets). Judy had a love of music (especially Elvis), Theatre Calgary, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, rosebud chocolates and her favourite dog Chippy. 
 
Judy spent over 30 years as a teacher in the Calgary Board of Education, fondly remembering her times at Louise Dean, Western Canada and James Fowler High Schools.  In addition, she was an active member of the Alberta Business Education Council of Alberta, at one time being the Chairman of the Southern Region. 
 
Judy is survived by her children, Barb (Giorgio-Isa and Diego) and Paul (Susan); and grandchildren, Amber, Alex, Jakob, Matteo, and Griffin.  She was predeceased by her parents, Art and Joyce Bainard; and her in-laws, Steve and Helen Gajdos, all of whom she loved dearly.
 
There will be a private graveside service with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
 
The family would like to thank the staff at both The Manor Village and the Agape Hospice for all the care they provided to Judy during her time with them.
