Obituary of Nancy Guidolin (nee MacSween)

Ann Michaela “Nancy” Guidolin (nee MacSween) of Calgary, AB, beloved sister of Rankin MacSween and Grace Steele, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022, at the age of 73 years.

Nancy was the eldest of four children born to Daniel and Marguerite MacSween (nee MacLean). Raised in Ironville, Cape Breton, NS, she was proud of her Scottish roots and delighted in Celtic music. Nancy’s unwavering independence and determination served her well throughout life, especially in the 30 years following her stroke. Her ability to adapt to life’s new path was an inspiration to all who knew her. The past decade, Nancy called Southwood Care Centre home, a compassionate residence that gave her a sense of belonging. The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the many who supported and extended exceptional compassion to Nancy over the years, especially fellow resident, Jennifer Scott. Nancy’s loved ones will hold fond memories of her tenacity, affection for her rescue cats and love of chocolate.

Nancy will lovingly be remembered by her brother, Rankin (Marie) MacSween; sister, Grace (Kevin) Steele; nieces and nephew, Meaghan MacSween, Glenn (Alison) Steele, and Katherine Steele; as well as her aunt/godmother, Geraldine Donovan. She is predeceased by her husband, John Guidolin, parents Daniel and Marguerite MacSween, and brother Danny MacSween.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a Catholic Funeral Service on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., at St. Albert the Great Parish, (10 Preswick Dr. SE, Calgary, AB). A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Andrew’s Parish in Boisdale, Cape Breton, NS, followed by a gathering at the Firehall.
