Condolences
I am a former colleague of Marie as I knew her approximately 40 years ago during our oil and gas days - we were usually seen hanging out with another co-worker, Cynthia as we worked in the same office and tagged by co-workers as The Three Musketeers. We vowed that we would have a reunion when we all reached our milestone birthdays - Marie would be 30, Cynthia at 40 and me being the eldest at 50. Unfortunately, back then, oil companies were going through acquisitions and mergers, and we all went our separate ways with the occasional contact, thus never fulfilling our vows in celebrating our milestone years - they had come and gone along the wayside.
Long story short, we finally did connect in 2015 after Marie had returned from Cuba and I from Alaska, (Cynthia moved to BC), we managed to have lunch in May laughing and reminiscing as teenagers about our days in the oil patch. I will always cherish the fun times working with Marie and listening to her beautiful French accent, her upbeat character plus her positive attitude. We connected once again by text on her birthday this year, not realizing this would be the last time I would be in contact with her.
Sadly, when I heard about Marie's passing, I do regret the chance we missed fulfilling our wishes to reunite for any milestone birthdays.
To Jeff and the Gallant family, my heart and thoughts are with you during this time of grieving. Please know that you are not alone in remembering a truly wonderful person that meant so much to so many.
Marie, you will always have a special place in my heart - RIP - we will join you in celebration one day
Love Jan Poon
The news of Marie's passing has left us with a very heavy heart. Her smile, her laughter, her determination, her positive outlook, her friendship and love will never be forgotten. Nor will her "parisisms" We will remember the many fitness classes, the wonderful holidays we took together and the countless evenings of friendship, conversation, fun, food, cocktails and laughter will forever be with us. There is a reason why we took so many photos along the way my friend. Jeff, you are in our thoughts and prayers and are here for you today, tomorrow and tomorrows after that. To the Gallant family; Marie is now perhaps sharing a martini with your Mother and Father. "your wings were ready, but our hearts were not" Rest in Peace dear friend
