Obituary of Ruth Patricia Campbell

July 15, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Ruth Campbell (nee Gibson), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the age of 92 years.

 

Ruth was born in Toronto, ON, on November 14, 1929, where she lived for 86 years before moving to Calgary, Alberta in 2016.

 

Ruth married William Campbell September 4th, 1954.  They were married 56 years before Bill died in 2011.

 

Ruth lived for her family, always giving of herself to make their lives better.  She also loved her dogs and had many over the years.  During baseball season, Ruth would always cheer on her favourite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Hockey season found her always loyal to the Toronto Maple Leafs and enjoyed a friendly rivalry with family loyal to the Montreal Canadians.

 

Ruth’s most memorable vacations were a trip to Hawaii, and an Alaskan cruise, both with her beloved husband, Bill.  They also enjoyed trips to the cottage in Muskoka every year, as well as a number of trips to the Yukon.

 

She will be most remembered for her gentle spirit, her kind heart, her beautiful smile, and her love of family and dogs.

 

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne (Campbell) and Daniel Charlebois of Calgary, Alberta; two sons and daughter-in-law, William Michael Campbell of Brampton, Ontario, Scott and Tina (Kondrit) Campbell of Ballantrae, Ontario; seven grandchildren, Michael Charlebois (Haley Wells) of Calgary, Alberta, David Charlebois (Melissa (Herico) Charlebois) of Calgary, Alberta, Danielle (Charlebois) Drahotsky (Kazimir Drahotsky) of Cochrane, Alberta, Stephanie Campbell of Venice Beach, California, Jessica Campbell of Santa Cruz, California, Jenna Campbell of Ballantrae, Ontario, Lia Campbell of Ballantrae, Ontario; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Benjamin, Sloane, Maxwell, Mackenzie, Madeline, and Jaclyn.

 

Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband William Campbell, her parents Joseph and Mabel (Arthurs) Gibson, her two brothers, Joseph Arthur Gibson (Grace) and Harry Gibson (Dorothy); and her three sisters Eileen (Gibson) Baster (John), Jean (Gibson) Patterson (Earl), Mary (Gibson) Proceviat (Peter).

 

A Funeral Service will be held, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Campbell's service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
