Condolences
Deepest Condolences to Lucy and all of the family.
Joe will be sadly missed by many.
We got to know Joe and Elsie when we organized Lake Bonavista's first bingo. We worked every Saturday night for some 2 years until the mortgage on the new Lk Bonavista community center on Academy Rd was paid for.
Our little kids now had a place to play hockey.
What fun we had!
Music was a much loved added Bonus with almost everything we did together. Joe on his guitar and Elsie singing.
Such Great memories ❤
Life's work well done Joe.
Rest In Peace
Clare Makarchuk and family
We extend our deep condolences to Lucy and Joe's family .
We met Joe and Lucy when an all accordion orchestra, Fess 'n' Friends , was first formed, of which he was one of the first members. Joe loved playing the accordion and always supported and attended the practices and performances. In later years when a weekly venue became unavailable, he offered his home for us to practice in. He and Lucy rearranged the furniture each week, to accommodate all of us. I also have fond memories of attending the annual Las Vegas accordion convention, of which Joe seldom missed.
He was a huge advocate of the accordion and will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace Joe.

We are sad to hear of Joe’s death and offer our deepest condolences to his family. Joe and family were our next-door Neighbours on Acadia Drive in the 70’s. He was our go-to for home repair know-how, Joe was our tax accountant for decades, he was our hunting bud - Joe and family were the best Neighbours we ever had! Joe had smarts - he continuously help me and my wife with know how like building our garage, plumbing in water softeners and with his son helped us develop our basement
The Oshust family were a pillar in the community. Joe and family were a foundation for Bonavista – they were instrumental for securing funding for construction of the Bonavista hockey facility.
Joe was also our travel bud, viz. my wife and I went on a family vacation to Hawaii in the 70’s with Joe after Elsie passed away. My mother & father-In-law, their friends plus their friend’s daughter & son in law loved Joe like we did.
Whenever we talked to Joe over the last 40 years there was no change. Joe was always Joe. We started conversations where we left off last talk. He played the accordion and created fun for all wherever he went. May God keep care of him. Joe will be missed by us as well as all whom knew him. He was friends with all. His memory be carried in everyone’s hearts forever. Barry & Eleanor Boyce
We are saddened at the passing of Joe and offer our deepest condolences to all his family members. He will be missed by us. It was always a happy surprise when I would receive a message from him that contained information, or clips from his film collection, that he thought would interest me about our shared heritage on our grandparents' homestead, or the occasional audio rendition of Happy Birthday on the accordion. May God keep him in His care and his memory be carried always in the hearts of his family.
