Condolences
Barry, Bonnie and Allan,
We just heard the sad news today (Sept 20th). We were very sorry to hear of Vern's passing.
As Bob Ritchie said, your Dad was a very important figure to so many of us growing up. As our Scout leader, Vern gave up his evenings and weekends to teach us and to babysit a bunch of punk kids on camping trips. He established fund raising to generate the money to take us to CJ77 and then he looked out for us as they released us onto the poor people of PEI.
Barry, Ian and I all earned our Pathfinder and Chief Scout Awards as a direct result of Vern Rehbein's commitment. The amount of time and effort he put in was over and above that of any other adult in our lives and I often think of him when I am called upon to volunteer or support the community in some capacity. We spent a lot of time at the Rehbein home, playing with Pepi and Coquette, learning to tie neckties and generally cleaning out poor Vern's fridge.
Vern had an enormous, positive impact upon so many of us. We grieve with you for your loss and we hope that you know what a great man your Dad and Father in Law was.
All our love!
Bob, Susi and the extended Greaves' family.
We want to send our sincere condolences to Jeanne, and Vern's Family, Vern was a delightful person, a great life long friend, and special person. Anyone who was lucky enough to have him in their lives were truly blessed by his friendship, and great sense of humour. He will be truly missed.

Vern was our neighbour when my parents built their home in Dalhousie in 1969. I will always remember Vern as a kindhearted, helpful, and hardworking man possessing a a ready smile and good nature. Both my father and Vern had a RCAF background which bonded them and my mother had a great affection for Barry and Bonnie as we watched them grow up. I was saddened to see that Vern has passed away as he was such a positive memory when I was a teen.
Board and staff at The Hangar Flight Museum will miss you dearly Vern. You contributed to the Museum in so many ways (too many to write here) and I personally enjoyed the many conversations and laughs at the Museum. My heartfelt condolences, prayers and thoughts to Jeanne and family.
Vern, It was a pleasure to know you. I enjoyed our visits over the years. RIP my friend. My deepest sympathies to your family.
Jeanne, Bonnie, Barry and the extended families. Our deepest condolences on your loss. Vern will be deeply missed by all he touch through his life. He had such a huge impact on me as a teenager, through our scouting adventures and all the antics he put up with in our adolescence years. I’ve shared many of those memories and laughs with my family. I was honoured to have Vern in my life.
I wish you all peace and comfort in the memories you share. Rest In Peace Vern.
Bob, Morag and the Ritchie Clan
