Obituary of Jacqueline Marie Peterson

November 27, 1974 - Calgary, Alberta

August 18, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Jacqueline Peterson, the beloved wife of Shawn Peterson, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the age of 47 years.

A beautiful wife to her lifelong soulmate Shawn Peterson, and a loving mother to their four children whom she was so incredibly proud of. Her children, Cody (Brieanne), Zachary, Luke and Maya love their mom with all of their hearts. She will be missed dearly by so many including her parents, Barry and Anne Ross; and father and mother-in-law, Vern and Diane Peterson. The middle child of five, Jackie is remembered so fondly by her four siblings Edward Ross (Liza), Kathy Bratek (Wally), Mike Ross and Danny Ross; as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny Peterson (Kari), Madeleine Gergen (Patrick), and Shantelle Soto (Ricardo); who all loved her generosity, thoughtfulness, and beautiful spirit.

Jackie was an amazing auntie to her many nieces and nephews who all loved her very much. She loved them from the moment they were born and worked hard to create very special relationships with each one of them. For all those who knew and loved Jackie, she will be remembered for her strength of spirit, generosity, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family. She always knew when it was time to gather the family together, and her ability to connect all the many moving pieces of her extended tribe was unparalleled by anyone.

She was effortlessly funny, witty, loving, and full of grace. Born November 27, 1974, in Calgary, Jackie enjoyed figure skating and was one of the first girls to play on an all-boys baseball team. She had a fierce and independent spirit and made many friends everywhere she went. Growing up she was both an adored little sister, a protective older sister, a beloved daughter, granddaughter, and niece. She was so ridiculously cute that even when she was in trouble, it was impossible to stay mad at her for long.

In High School, Jackie met the love of her life Shawn, who she eventually married and had four beautiful and talented children with. Motherhood suited Jackie beautifully, and being a mom was something she always felt was her greatest achievement. The pride she carried for her kids was like a lighthouse beacon, and she spoke often of their achievements and her love for them.

Jackie was a talented, and beloved manager at Costco, and was well respected by everyone who had the privilege to get to know her. She engaged in many charitable initiatives through Costco, and it was so important to her to find ways to support and help the less fortunate. A wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, and friend who is forever loved and will be missed until we meet her again. In the end, it is not the years in your life that count, it is the life in your years, and we will always count the blessings that we were given with Jackie as part of our life.
