Obituary of Bishop Charles Pipestem
February 26, 1998 - Calgary, Alberta
September 25, 2022 - Tsuu'tina Nation, Alberta
Bishop Pipestem, beloved husband of Derrian Pipestem (nee Bird) of Tsuu'tina Nation, AB, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the age of 24 years.
Bishop was born on February 26, 1998, to Cindy (Onespot) and Vincent Pipestem. He attended Tsuut’ina High School where he excelled in music, dance, and sports, including the Citadel Theatre’s Soar Arts program. Graduating in 2015, he was named the school’s Athlete of the Year as well as Most Valuable Player of the Year. The following year, he worked at Tsuut’ina High School as a teacher assistant, and co-coach of basketball and volleyball. The school took the Treaties in volleyball that year.
He went on to study sound and music production at the Metalworks Institute in Ontario. Returning to Alberta, he became a helitack firefighter based out of the Livingstone Gap in Southern Alberta. He was dispatched to fight out of control fires across the province.
Bishop married Derrian (Bird), the love of his life on September 17, 2019. They honeymooned in Toronto and enjoyed travelling to many places. Together, they and Jayden Restrepo, were a happy family.
Even as a child, Bishop had musical talent and learned to play guitar as a toddler. A gifted musician, he could listen to a song and then play it. He was generous with his talent and was always willing to help create and record music for any production. Bishop had a beautiful energy. He always had a smile on his face and created a safe space for all of those around him. He was a role model and a great supporter of those around him. He loved sports and won the city championship with the Snipers baseball team, and he continued to play volleyball as an adult. He loved hockey too; his favourite team was the St. Louis Blues. Bishop loved to travel and was always ready for his next adventure. He never needed much time to pack and as long as there was room for his guitar, he was ready to go. Bishop had an appetite for life, music, sports, and food! Although he was slim, he loved to eat and would try everything as long as he had a cup of tea to wash it down with.
Bishop had great love for his family and friends. He especially cared for his many nieces and nephews, Noah, Oliver, Nora, Emerson, Dahlia and Abella Pipestem, Zaden Whitequills, Lincoln Backfat-Pipestem, Kahlena Crowchild, Rylie Heavenfire; and godchildren, Terazai Blackface and Carlos Pipestem.
A gentle and caring soul, Bishop had a helping heart and wanted to whatever he could for people. He had hoped to pursue a career in the EMS industry to go along with his firefighting background.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Cynthia Pipestem, 47 North Sarcee Rd, Tsuut’ina Nation, AB, on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Cynthia Pipestem, 47 North Sarcee Rd, Tsuut’ina Nation, AB, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuut’ina Cemetery (Tsuut’ina Nation, AB). Traditional Drive Through Feast immediately following the graveside. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
