Will be thinking of the Dypvik family today as they say goodbye to their sweet mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I became best friends with Irene at the age of 13 and spent lots of time in the Dypvik home with sleepovers, lunches and just hanging out. Irene’s mom was always kind and welcoming and a pleasure to be around. Irene & I worked at the post office on evening shift for a year after high school and her mom never hesitated to pick us up at 11 pm. She would drive us to Peter’s hamburgers for a treat and was just a fun, caring lady. I accompanied Irene and Audny and their mom on a camping trip to BC and enjoyed every minute and realized what a strong, independent, capable woman “Ronnie” was and loved being in the company of strong, funny, smart women. I remember being in Boston Pizza many years ago about this same time of year and seeing Irene’s mom come in to buy gift cards. She had to be in her mid 80’s and looked the same other than white hair. She had on cool patterned leggings and a ski jacket and was tall and lovely and looking very Nordic. I thought to myself, that is someone who has lived well and aged well! I have so many fond memories of being with the entire Dypvik family and know they helped shape me to become a little smarter, braver, funnier and happier. I am sorry I can’t be there today to honour her due to Illness but will be thinking of Audny, Sissel and of course my dear Irene on this difficult day of saying goodbye to your wonderful mom. She was a truly lovely person and I so enjoyed my time spent at the Dypvik home and will always cherish my memories of those days. XO
We were very sorry to hear of Ronnie’s passing. She was a lovely mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by you all.
I'm so sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing. I'm glad that I got to know her, if only a little bit when Susie, Agnes and I would stop in for a visit. Her baking skills were excellent.
I would like to offer my condolences on the passing of a very classy lady Ranveig. Even though I did not see her very often, one of my fondest memories is the ladies afternoon lunches. Ranveig, Agnes and Aslaug getting together, with their fine china, lovely table settings and traditional Norwegian cuisine catching up on all the latest news. Of course a sherry or two was always in the mix. I would like to think they are together again looking over us.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
