Obituary of Matyas Loczi

LOCZY, Matyas

July 17, 1931 – December 29, 2022

Matyas Loczy of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years on Thursday, December 29, 2022.

Matyas was born in Hungary, Foldeak on July 17, 1931. He left his family home in 1956 to immigrate to Canada. He lived his life in Calgary, AB, along with his wife Zsuzsanna Loczy of fifty-six years and his only daughter Susan Aniko Loczy, his son-in-law Perley Bell, and beloved dog Maggie, who was his light for twelve years helping him in his illness of heart failure with her unconditional comfort and love. He leaves behind his sister Valli Siklosi in Hungary.

Dad loved to garden and plant his beautiful flowers, especially his roses, which this summer he spent a lot of time adoring and sadly already saying goodbye to. A very good handyman, he maintained our little home himself, proudly and effortlessly.

The mountains were his peace and joy and all living animals especially dogs made him smile with soulful happiness. His daughter, who was always called by her loving nickname, Susie, was his daily life to protect, provide and keep. She was kept close to his heart never missing a day of talking and telling her he loved her with all his heart. He and his wife made a life together, never apart helping and taking care of each other with pure love.

He made lifetime friends whom he loved and felt very grateful to have in his life. His beloved church St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, which he was a part of the parish in Calgary for many decades. He loved joining the old age club and helping his fellow church members who were his dear friends. He will be dearly missed and will live forever in our hearts in never-ending love until we meet again.

O Lord, we ask you, on behalf of the soul of your servant

whom you have called out this world and gifted

relief from his suffering; look upon Matyas with pity and let him be conducted by the holy angels to paradise, his true country.

Grant that he who believed in you and hoped in you,

may be admitted to eternal joys and reunited with all loved ones. Through Jesus Christ, your son, our Lord,

Who with you the Holy Spirit lives and reigns world without end.

Amen.
