Obituary of Pamela Bacchus

February 8, 1951 – Plaisance, Guyana
February 6, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Pamela Bacchus of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the age of 71 years.

Pam was predeceased by her parents, Olivia and Lionel Benjamin Bacchus. She will be lovingly remembered by her partner/husband, Gerard, sisters, Jean, Camille (Art), Diane (Warner) and Rosita (Dennis), her aunt Shirley and her sisters-in-law, Sylvie-Ann (Nini)/Eric, Chere Feng, and Cathy (Jean-Francois). She is also survived by her niece Talia (Adam); nephews, Noah (Chelsea), Gabriel (Amanda), Camilo (Lindsey), Diego, Albert, Louis, and great-nephews, Colton Rostoker and Logan Rostoker. Pam is aunt to Stefan, Nicole and Leah; and great-aunt to Solmija, Stella, Cassius, Kaya, Aloe, Sora, Savannah, Element and Sadie.

Pam worked as a teacher at Stella Maris kindergarten school in Guyana and immigrated to Toronto in 1971. In Toronto, she worked at Three Little Fishes school, Nestle Canada, Alan Cherry and Sunnybrook Hospital.  She moved to Calgary in 1985, where she eventually met the love of her life, Gerard.
 
Pam was involved in many Federal Elections, worked as a head of publicity of the Calgary Children’s Festival, and assisted with the Mount Royal choir group. She also enjoyed travelling, had a flair for reciting poetry, and was an excellent baker.

A Funeral Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, with a reception in the Hospitality Centre of the funeral home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Pamela’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
