Obituary of Gilda Diaz DIAZ

October 1, 1932 – Manilla, Philippines March 15, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta After a long battle with cancer, Gilda passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, March 15, 2019 surrounded by friends and relatives at the age of 86. Gilda Diaz Diaz was born on October 1st, 1932 in Manilla, Philippines. She arrived in Canada in 1984 and sponsored her youngest brother Noli and family to come to Canada in 1996. Gilda was a devout Roman Catholic, a kind and tough woman, and a fighter all the way to the end. She was a hard worker and caregiver, running a day home from 1999 to 2010 where she continued to pass on her strength to those who came under her care. In her spare time she enjoyed Bingo and the lottery. Gilda was predeceased by her brother Noli; and niece Isabel. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church (5504 20th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
