Obituary of Craig DURNFORD
September 15, 1965 – Iserlohn, Germany
December 3, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
Craig Durnford of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the age of 53 years.
Craig was born on September 15, 1965 in Iserlohn, Germany to proud parents Matthew Roland Durnford and June Marie Durnford. He grew up in a military family which meant he was moving from city to city every few years until finally settling in Calgary, AB when he was fourteen years old, and that is where Craig called home from that day forward.
Craig met his wife Lisa when he was a young man, and went on to marry her in 1995; the union resulted in three children, Danielle age twenty-four, Ashley age twenty-two, and Matthew age twenty. He was extremely proud of his kids and missed them so much when he was unable to see them.
Academics was not Craig’s interest, he was more of a get your hands dirty type of person. He enjoyed working on cars, machine fabrication, and building things rather than sitting in an office at a computer. He went on to get his Welders Certificate and Auto-Cad Certification; both jobs he excelled at, and really enjoyed doing.
Not a lot of people know this about Craig, but he was also a very creative person; he expressed himself in his drawings and writings.
Craig lived a very complicated and conflicted life. He is finally at peace. We will miss him so much, he will never be forgotten.
Craig is survived by sisters, Claudia and Bridget Durnford; children, Danielle Palmiere, Ashley and Matthew Durnford; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Matthew Roland and mother, June Marie Durnford.
A private service will be held for Craig at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
In living memory of Craig Durnford, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
