February 16, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Ruth Klap beloved wife of the late John Klap of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the age of 90 years.

Ruth was born in Calgary, Alberta on November 5, 1932. Ruth graduated from Crescent Heights High School and later enrolled in a 10-month nursing course at the School for Nursing Aides. Ruth married John Klap in 1953.

Ruth was a member of the Hawkwood Baptist Church where she thoroughly enjoyed the people and worshipping her Lord and Saviour.

Ruth enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, making greeting cards, reading, writing, music and playing the piano.

Ruth was dedicated to all her family and loved her four boys and their families. She was very happy and excited to see them whenever they visited. It made her feel special and she was very appreciated and loved by all.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Andy (Heather), Steve (Patricia), Jim (Verlie) and Paul (Tammy); her brother John (Helen), sister-in-law Vi; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband John, parents Margaret and David, brother Donald, granddaughter Georgia and niece Stephanie.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Aides, Nurses, Doctors and Admin Staff at Newport Harbour Care centre for their care and compassion, love and kindness they gave Ruth and family. Ruth really enjoyed her time at Newport, and they used to tell her that “If we didn’t have your mom here, we would all be Ruthless”.

Her faith in her Lord and Saviour kept her strong and now she is with him forever.

I am gone

I am gone

do not mourn for me

from the pressures of life

I am set free.

Do not let my passing

take away your life, too

my time on earth is over, but

you still have much to do.

Do not be miserable, this I

could not bear, for I am happy here

my peace depends on

your happiness there.

Do not carry hate

or remorse, or regret

be thankful we have each out

and my love, never forget.

My earth life is over

but soon our spirits will blend

forever in eternity

and never come to an end.

Yes I am gone

but close by on another place

I’ll be watching over you

until we’re together again.

Eva Fry, 1993
