Obituary of Angus Ronald Steveson, M. Sc.

April 18, 1929 – Lethbridge, Alberta October 26, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Angus beloved husband of Theresa Marion Leitch (nee Demco) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 89 years Angus was born in Lethbridge to John and Catherine Leitch, joining brothers Bill and Alex, and big sister Bunty. Angus studied Engineering at the University of Alberta, where he met Theresa at a frosh mixer. They danced the night away, married in 1952, raised four children, and recently celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary. Angus is survived by his wife, Theresa; sons Keith and Ian; daughters Marla and Heather; Keith’s wife Karen; Marla’s husband Darryl; Ian’s wife Nancy; grandchildren Michael, Kevin, Andrew, Parker and Shea; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, and his sister. Angus was a long-time member of APEGA and the Glencoe Club. He liked squash and curling. He was active in the community and the arts. He served as Treasurer of Naramata Summer School of Music Arts, sang with the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus, belonged to the Professional Club and the Petroleum Club, and attended Scarboro United Church, Riverview United Church, Woodcliff United Church, and Rosedale United Church. Although he worked briefly for energy companies in Tulsa and Los Angeles, Angus spent most of his life in Calgary. His successful consulting company offered chemical engineering services far and wide. He traveled Alberta and the world, tending gas plants and components. Theresa, keeping score, often noted that he had visited six continents. Angus enjoyed the symphony, opera, classic movies, puns, and Bugs Bunny. He particularly appreciated his grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them, including vacation time in British Columbia, Mexico, Hawaii, and Australia. During several years of declining health, Angus remained interested, engaged and cheerful. He kept his sense of humor and would always chuckle at a good or bad joke. Theresa’s care for him during this time was tender and meticulous. Angus died peacefully in his sleep, after a good meal and an amiable chat. He will be remembered with love and respect, and he will be missed. A Memorial Service was held at Scarboro United Church, () on Monday, November 12, 2018.
