Obituary of Pansy Julia Hagel
August 4, 1918 – Duchess, Alberta
May 1, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Mrs. Pansy Hagel (nee Chudleigh) passed away peacefully at the Bowcrest Care Centre on May 1, 2023, at the age of 104 years, 8 months. Pansy was predeceased by her loving husband Felix on August 10, 1997.
Pansy was born and raised on a farm near Duchess, AB, and attended Olds College in the late 1930s, then attended Henderson’s Secretarial College. This allowed her to work at the Albertan newspaper for four years during the war and eventually for the City of Calgary in administration for over 25 years. When we think of Pansy, we think of fashion, elegance, resilience, dance, passion, inspiration, meticulousness, resourcefulness, flair, flamboyance, grace, will, and above all, we think of love.
Pansy was fortunate to have especially close friends, Dawn Ferguson, and Hilda Pratt, and devoted love and care from nephew Adrian Chudleigh and his wife, Cathy.
Pansy is survived by her nephews and nieces and their families. She was predeceased by her brother Rufus, and sisters Elizabeth, and Blanche. Pansy is survived by her stepchildren Len (Carol), Ken (Terry); step-grandchildren Ryan (Alex), Chantal, Matthew (Edith), Mark (Aicee), and Jessica; step-great-grandchildren Kaiya, and Max, and sister-in-law Theresa Hagel.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (10 River Heights Dr, Cochrane, AB) on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Dennis officiating. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
